Bio

I am a professional filmmaker who began making personal and experimental videos at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Much of my early subject matter sought to portray individuals evolving beyond their contexts using visual tricks or creative illusions to heighten their shift in perception. Broadening this approach, my current motivation is to experiment with even more intuitive and dynamic approaches to portraying the human experience on video.

Motivation

In the past 6 months I’ve been walking to work every morning seeing up close how a neighborhood and its inhabitants, myself included, change with the shifting of seasons, especially during winter. Of particular interest to me is how the weather can humble the people subjected to it. Some welcome it with positive anticipation, others shut their minds to it not wanting any part of it. I have been looking forward to an opportunity to involve myself more with Labspace and with Snow Days I hope to present a project, using video as its base, to portray a series of perceptual shifts in humans brought on by the emergence of winter.
