Canadians are amongst the highest ranking users of freshwater in the world, with the average Canadian using around 335 litres of water per day – the equivalent to 1½ full bathtubs. This demand, combined with increasing impacts from pollution and climate change, create risk to our Canadian and global water resources.

Labspace Studio was brought on board to envision and execute a public activation for Earth Week to help people better understand the true cost of water. Using a water meter, microprocessor and LED strip light display, the installation(s) present the real-time financial cost of running a tap of water, along with the energy consumed and carbon generated.
